So you’ve broken up with your girlfriend and she says it’s all over.  What’s next?  If you haven’t stopped loving her you will probably feel totally distraught and want to get her back.

  But if you’re an emotional mess, why would she want to take you back?  No one likes to be around someone who is suffering or someone who’s very needy.

1. Wallow in your misery so that your ex will take you back because she feels sorry for you.  All that shows is that you are a Loser;
2. Be overly nice and tell her you love her over and over.  A friend told me an ex once did that to her and because of the way he did it she felt creeped out and wanted to run far away;
3. Tell her you will change and you’ll do things differently next time.  Why should she trust what you say?  After all, actions speak louder than words?
4. Buy her personal and romantic gifts.  My friend’s ex-boyfriend bought a corsage and took it to her workplace. He insisted they go to lunch, with her wearing the corsage.  She felt horribly embarrassed;
5. Make her feel guilty or use other bribery like how other people, perhaps your children or your parents, will feel if you don’t get back together;
6. Try to get her to change her mind with hard logic.  Women trust their emotions and gut feelings more than they trust cold, rational arguments.  Plus the arguments you give to get her back are possibly only rational in your mind, not other people’s;
7. Shut her out completely, wanting her to get upset and come back to you.

Approaching the problem in this way will only send your girlfriend further away from you.
